Our latest feature artist is Chris Peters from Saskatchewan Canada. With a consistent string of amazing designs Chris caught our eye and we caught up with him to talk about programs, influence, and… The bachelorette?
Blake Curwen: So, first off... Tell me just a little about your background; Where your from, how you got into design work.

Chris Peters: Well I'm from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. I've been professionally employed for around 4 years now, just on portfolio. Like many other computer related artists; I'm self taught.
BC: So self taught... What kind of programs did you start with, and what are you using now?
CP: Originally I started with GIMP on Linux making custom background and icons. After getting into gaming I switched to Windows and started making custom textures where I eventually got efficient at photoshop. Then I discovered tutorials. Tutorials are the single most effective thing I have come across as a learning tool for anything computer related.
I guess once I grew up I started to like "classier" art and ended up doing a lot of 3D/Photoshop battles with other artists as a way of testing my own abilities and to gather inspiration. As for the jump to vector I'm kinda hazy, but I think I started using Fireworks in my schools graphic art class and just played with it alot. Upon looking for tutorials I found awesome communities around scalable graphics and ended up favoring the new cmyk look. Since then I’ve got into Illustrator hardcore and at one point hadn’t touched photoshop in 6 months. Right now I actively use Illustrator, Photoshop, Fireworks, and CorelDRAW.
BC: 'A Splash Of Love' is one of my favorite designs on the site, and inspired by your girl friend. Things must be going well, yes?

CP: Yes actually, we just got a house together! She also insisted on getting number 1 of that shirt.
BC: Congrats on the home. I was going to say, maybe I can get Eric (our CEO) to throw her one on the house!
CP: Haha! that would of been even cooler.
BC: I'm starting to see a lot of art done 'live' at music performances... If you had to create a design live as a back drop to a show, who would the performer be?
CP: Probably Daft Punk.
BC: If we could get a celebrity to wear one of your Finroo shirts, who would it be, and which design?
CP: Probably Rob Dyrdek (From Rob & Big) and 'Abstract Life' for the Tee

BC: Final question...You are from Canada... Who will win the Bachelorette?
CP: LOL... I was gonna ask my girlfriend! I dunno, that one guy. (that’s how much I’ve seen of that show... "that one guy")
BC: Then you are a better man than I!
Stay tuned for a new batch of designs from Chris in the near future!
