Cambridge, Mass. (Sept. 15, 2009) – In a normal year, completing the MBA program at Babson College means opening the door to new and exciting career opportunities that otherwise might pass them by. For Eric Yohay, Blake Curwen, and Kevin Sandhu, that is exactly what they envisioned when they accepted their invitations to the competitive MBA program in the early months of 2008.

Fast forward to graduation in spring 2009, and reality has dealt the recent grads a different hand. With unemployment hovering around the 10 percent mark and senior positions seeing fierce competition from hundreds of applicants, Yohay, Curwen and Sandhu knew it was time to launch a plan B: Finroo.com.

"I think everyone in my inner circle was saying what a great time it was to go back to school. Turns out it couldn't have been worse. Everyone needs a back up," said Blake Curwen, Director of Sales and Marketing

Finroo is a limited edition clothing company that offers product direct from designers to consumers. Finroo taps into an international pool of artists who submit their designs to the site and receive commission for each shirt that is sold. In addition to commission, a portion of each sale is given to a charity of the artist’s choice. Finroo also offers thousands of dollars in prize money to its artist community through various sales contests. The shirts are printed on super soft eco-friendly bamboo, and each T is individually numbered. Focused on originality and turning T-shirts into 'wearable art,' the company's first line runs in limited editions of 100. That translates into one shirt for every 184 towns in the US.

Finroo is presently using its internal budget for online advertising and search engine optimization while seeking angel and VC funding. In addition to selling directly from its site, Finroo has begun to move into retail spaces in select cities. This October, Finroo will be hosting live 'Final Rounds' (Think of an MC battle, but with artists instead) in New York allowing artists to create designs live on stage that will later be made into shirts. The company’s sales and notoriety continues to grow each month, which Finroo largely credits to its large and continually expanding artist community.

"The key is to just get people in front of the shirts. The designs are awesome, and the bamboo is the most comfortable thing you'll ever touch," said Eric Yohay, President.
